SOTBM – NEW THIS WEEK

Hey guys,

How was your weekend? Mine was an incredible! I spent the past 3 days on a buying trip through rural Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and the people were super nice and friendly. I’m kicking myself for forgetting my camera, but oh well. I’ll go back soon : ).

Naturally, I bought tons of great vintage. Next months Sisters of the Black Moon auctions will be mindblowing! I can’t wait to drop this batch off to them in early November. Sister Sara will be in town then, so hopefully I’ll get to meet her!

Anyway, there’s no shortage of awesome till then. Here are some beauties the Sisters listed on Friday, sourced by yours truly:

All that glitters. This vintage romper came from the estate of a gal who was a circus performer in the 50s and 60s. This was one of her costumes! It’s totally smocked on the underside, so it has tons of stretch in every direction. Loaded with metallic gold sequins + has a metal zipper up the back. This is perfect for a glam rock inspired look. here

Insanely rare find! Semi sheer light cotton and metallic gold 1920s floral print party dress. 20s evening dresses made of cotton are a rarity, and usually originate from Belgium or France; this likely had a designer label at once point. From a prominent Wichita Falls, TX estate (the wealthiest American city at one point in the 20s, thanks to oil $$$). V neck w/ capelet collar, shirred sides @ drop waistline, geometric paneled skirting, and a subtle fishtail / asymmetric hem. If you’re after museum quality and wearable look no further. Great size too! here

Gypsy witch! Late 80s/90s burnout velvet jacket in a kimono inspired style. Gorgeous winter floral print, sequin accents, and beaded/tasseled fringe. Perfect for layering w/ basic black. here

Red hot. Sexy 60s/70s mod mini dress. Subtle a-line cut w/ plunging v neck. Zips down the back. Wear it as is for a rock & roll bad girl look, or wear a long sleeved knit top underneath for a sharp mod look. here

Angel of the east. 70s Indian inspired mini w/ lavish pink embroidery, dramatic sleeves, and lil’ buttons along the shoulder seams. The best! here

Ultimate find! Avant garde 80s wrap mohair sweater from iconic designer Pierre Cardin. Deep v neckline, dramatic dolman sleeves, and side tie. Super soft + perfect for the season. Gorgeous deep purple too. here

Anna Sui vintage inspired lovely. Babydoll style w/ empire waist. Lil’ ties at the sides. Sheer cream/black floral silk w/ cream lining. So precious! here

Ooooh yeah! 60s/70s cream colored canvas boots. Stacked heel + front lacing. Below the knee length. Great earthy look. A must have. here

Perfect fall floral. 80s/90s palazzo pant rayon romper. Soft fluid silhouette. Such a dream. here

With a print this bright and cheerful, you can’t help but smile. Different kind of crystal healing! Super cute 60s/70s cotton mini in a gemstone and gold print. Pristine condition. here

60s babydoll mini w/ fringe hem. Perfect shades of deep red in the rose print. Imagine this paired with some black Louboutins! Parisian style romantic elegance. here

Here are a few stunners the sisters sourced on their own too:

70s dolly bell sleeve mini in a patchwork print. V neck + empire waistline + self belting. So beautiful! here

70s southwestern/geometric print micro mini dress. Perfect color combo. Comes with it’s original matching belt even. So cute! here

Ugh! Why can’t I find a piece like this for myself?!?!? Amazing 60s/70s faux fur leopard print cape w/ toggle front closure. Channel your inner Blair Waldorf and STRUT PROUDLY. here

I love vintage fraternal order robes, and this 70s disco mini w/ attached cape reminds me of them. Therefore I love it too. It also reminds me of the Virgen de Guadalupe >

You could go as a sexy version of her for Halloween, yes? YES. Good. Go here then.

There’s lots of cute stuff ending today too. Don’t miss out!

xoxo, SJ

ABUNDANCE OF AWESOME

This weeks new arrivals are sooo cute! If you see something you can’t live without, click here to shop.

Both discount codes ‘vlv14′ and ‘hello2011′ are valid at checkout for taking 25% off your total purchase. You know how Etsy gets though; every so often something malfunctions. A customer placed an order and used the discount during checkout this morning w/o any issue, but last night another customer complained the discount code wasn’t working.

Damn those glitches! But fear not ladies – if Etsy doesn’t make it right, I will. In the event a discount code doesn’t work, I’ll make sure to refund the difference on Paypal. I promise.

With outta the way, let’s get on with the show:

Q: Why does this dress resemble a Singapore sling?

A: Because it’s belongs at your next cocktail party. Hint hint!  Bright and festive 50s cotton dress in a Mayan inspired geometric print, with lil’ bows around the neck and a ruffle hemline. Pair it with the works aka flowers and cocktail umbrellas in your hair, bakelite and bamboo bangles, carved wooden wedge heels, and whatever tastes fruity. Then bust out the Martin Denny records. Sometimes more is just… more.

Heavenly shades of night. This House of Trash dress has a bittersweet story. The best fabric store in town was going out of business, and had to liquidate their inventory. They sold nothing but high end imported fabrics, such as the French silk this is made of.

It normally retailed at $44.00 a yard, so in theory the dress has $176.00 worth of fabric alone. I was able to pay much less than that though.

So to keep the good karma flowing I’ve priced it at under $200.00, AND you can get 25% off my asking price. For a one of a kind, handmade vintage reproduction fashioned from an authentic early 50s sewing pattern (which has a distinct Dior ‘new look’ silhouette) + top quality fabric, you can’t go wrong. There’s a lot of hand stitching on this, and I even added a vintage metal zipper to keep it as authentic looking as possible.

Already sold, but with sharing for fun. 50s silk chiffon dress w/ blue rose print. Romantic, classic, angelic, Betty Draper worthy, you know the drill.

Creme de la creme de la creme de la creme! 1940s + multi colored + rayon + embroidered Hawaiian boutique label = severe case of Stendhal syndrome. Can I get on disability for that? haha

You can never go wrong with vintage Oaxacan tent dresses. I love how this one has rainbow pastel embroidery! Someone else loved it too, as it sold within an hour. Yay!

Honeycomb be my gal. Lush 40s rayon with the cutest bumblebee and geometric honeycomb print in navy blue, bubblegum pink, and white. Tulip sleeves, shirred shoulders, and ruffle hem. So sweet.

**edit** This beauty found a new home right after I posted this. And yes, the buyer was able to use the discount code w/o any issues : ). ******

At last, another 60s dress! We’ve suffered a shortage of them for months, but thankfully replenished our stock last week. There’s many more mod mini’s on the way next week, but this one’s a good start.

Chocolate brown and white op art print. Yum yum yum.

70s meets 7 Year Itch! Had Marilyn lived another decade this could’ve been her dress. Plunging halter neckline, nipped waist, and full skirting. The floral print ain’t too shabby either : P. Technically someone ‘bought’ this on Etsy, but it hasn’t been paid for yet. I’m sure they won’t flake out though. On something this great, who would?

SarahJayne loves the 70s, part 10,000. Joyful floral print in a light stretch knit + matching chiffon overdrape. Cute cute cute. I want to wear this before someone buys it, but I have a tendency to treat my clothes like Tonka trucks, so I’ll resist. Nothing can stop me from swooning though.

Hopelessly. Head. Over. Heels. In. Love. The butterflies and wildflowers, the puffy sleeves, the sweetheart neckline, the cut….. if you’re cute like Doe Deere is, you need this in your life.

Studio 54 approved! This little black polyester 70s dress may be easy to care for, but basic is the last this you can call it. Asymmetrical v neckline, double tiers of asymmetrical skirting with marrowed edges…. dang!

There’s much more on the way too. I have piles upon piles of stuff to list. Good stuff. You’ll see.

xoxo, SJ
