SOTBM – NEW THIS WEEK

Hey guys,

How was your weekend? Mine was an incredible! I spent the past 3 days on a buying trip through rural Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and the people were super nice and friendly. I’m kicking myself for forgetting my camera, but oh well. I’ll go back soon : ).

Naturally, I bought tons of great vintage. Next months Sisters of the Black Moon auctions will be mindblowing! I can’t wait to drop this batch off to them in early November. Sister Sara will be in town then, so hopefully I’ll get to meet her!

Anyway, there’s no shortage of awesome till then. Here are some beauties the Sisters listed on Friday, sourced by yours truly:

All that glitters. This vintage romper came from the estate of a gal who was a circus performer in the 50s and 60s. This was one of her costumes! It’s totally smocked on the underside, so it has tons of stretch in every direction. Loaded with metallic gold sequins + has a metal zipper up the back. This is perfect for a glam rock inspired look. here

Insanely rare find! Semi sheer light cotton and metallic gold 1920s floral print party dress. 20s evening dresses made of cotton are a rarity, and usually originate from Belgium or France; this likely had a designer label at once point. From a prominent Wichita Falls, TX estate (the wealthiest American city at one point in the 20s, thanks to oil $$$). V neck w/ capelet collar, shirred sides @ drop waistline, geometric paneled skirting, and a subtle fishtail / asymmetric hem. If you’re after museum quality and wearable look no further. Great size too! here

Gypsy witch! Late 80s/90s burnout velvet jacket in a kimono inspired style. Gorgeous winter floral print, sequin accents, and beaded/tasseled fringe. Perfect for layering w/ basic black. here

Red hot. Sexy 60s/70s mod mini dress. Subtle a-line cut w/ plunging v neck. Zips down the back. Wear it as is for a rock & roll bad girl look, or wear a long sleeved knit top underneath for a sharp mod look. here

Angel of the east. 70s Indian inspired mini w/ lavish pink embroidery, dramatic sleeves, and lil’ buttons along the shoulder seams. The best! here

Ultimate find! Avant garde 80s wrap mohair sweater from iconic designer Pierre Cardin. Deep v neckline, dramatic dolman sleeves, and side tie. Super soft + perfect for the season. Gorgeous deep purple too. here

Anna Sui vintage inspired lovely. Babydoll style w/ empire waist. Lil’ ties at the sides. Sheer cream/black floral silk w/ cream lining. So precious! here

Ooooh yeah! 60s/70s cream colored canvas boots. Stacked heel + front lacing. Below the knee length. Great earthy look. A must have. here

Perfect fall floral. 80s/90s palazzo pant rayon romper. Soft fluid silhouette. Such a dream. here

With a print this bright and cheerful, you can’t help but smile. Different kind of crystal healing! Super cute 60s/70s cotton mini in a gemstone and gold print. Pristine condition. here

60s babydoll mini w/ fringe hem. Perfect shades of deep red in the rose print. Imagine this paired with some black Louboutins! Parisian style romantic elegance. here

Here are a few stunners the sisters sourced on their own too:

70s dolly bell sleeve mini in a patchwork print. V neck + empire waistline + self belting. So beautiful! here

70s southwestern/geometric print micro mini dress. Perfect color combo. Comes with it’s original matching belt even. So cute! here

Ugh! Why can’t I find a piece like this for myself?!?!? Amazing 60s/70s faux fur leopard print cape w/ toggle front closure. Channel your inner Blair Waldorf and STRUT PROUDLY. here

I love vintage fraternal order robes, and this 70s disco mini w/ attached cape reminds me of them. Therefore I love it too. It also reminds me of the Virgen de Guadalupe >

You could go as a sexy version of her for Halloween, yes? YES. Good. Go here then.

There’s lots of cute stuff ending today too. Don’t miss out!

GMT <3'S SOTBM

Hey y’all! Remember that big announcement I said was on the way? Well… here it is: I’ve teamed up with Sisters of the Black Moon – from now on my best vintage finds will be sold through their EBay shop + I’ll be doing some ‘behind the scenes’ web related stuff for them. This opens a whole new chapter for them as well as I; one we’re all pretty psyched about : ).

Seeing my finds brought to life by them is a dream come true. I just love how the products are statement worthy, yet styled in a way that never looks ‘costume-y’ or ‘dated’. Instead, their presentation is a perfect hybrid of vintage, street, and high fashion – resulting in looks that are do-able and appropriate for every day. You can’t help but get inspired!

On top of that, these ladies are the real deal. Such genuinely cool, kind, and creative people. They’re every bit as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, so I feel very blessed to be working with them. It’s been a lot of fun so far, and I’m very excited for what the future holds.

Without further adieu, lets get to the good stuff, shall we? Here are some treasures currently up for grabs:

Dark green 70s jumpsuit with bell bottoms, cut outs, and studs, oh my! Very Foxy Brown and perfect in every way. here

The perfect fall dress! Authentic Indian silk from the 1970s. I just love the paisley/ethnic print + vibrant colors. here

Holy moly! 70s fringed bell bottoms in brown suede + cream cotton.  here

Deadstock (never worn) 70s gogo boots with cut outs. If you’re a size 5 1/2 to 6, don’t miss these. Such rare showstoppers! here

Kimono inspired 70s maxi with an obre like scheme. I love the wide sleeves and moon + bamboo/fern leaf print. here

This reminds me of my favorite fictional charactor, Wednesday Addams! Super cute 80s mini in black stretch velvet, with with satin contrast. The best. here

Grunge meets goth meets glam. Cutie pie 90s black cotton crochet halter dress. here

Glitz & glam! 70s high waist palazzo pants in a metallic gold brocade. Pristine condition as if never worn. here

Disco dolly. 70s poly chiffon triple tiered ruffle dress. Hot stuff! here

Mod-nifique! 60s mustard/red/black tartan plaid mini jumper dress w/ buckles on the straps. Perfect for layering in colder months. here

Zodiac print 60s/70s mini dress. I repeat,  ZODIAC PRINT 60s/70s MINI DRESS.  Such a thing exists, and the proof is here

I love Victorian revival stuff! Cream colored 70s mini w/ lace, ruffles, and self belting. here

Ooooh, girl! 70s/80s washed silk halter mini in a 30s inspired style. I love the deep v neck + open back. Every gal needs a sexy lil’ thing like this hanging in her closet. here

This 40s rayon Hawaiian stunner sold last week. Such gorgeous colors and print!

There’s PLENTY more where this came from, trust me. What you see here is a fraction of what I brought the sisters + they do plenty of treasure hunting on their own too. Please visit their shop for many more incredible items. Thanks for checking it out!

 xoxo, SJ

GILDED

SOMETHING NAVY BLUE

I get a lot of inspiration from fashion bloggers of all stripes. Oftentimes I’m reminded of their personal style when I’m out sourcing new merchandise. An era, a cut, a brand, a color… any little thing can make me flash back to an outfit post I loved. I’ll take bloggers over red carpet celebs any day.

Here are a couple things I listed earlier on Goldmine Trash:

Vintage 80s jacket from Mondi, a German boutique label. Made in a lightweight navy blue wool/polyester blend. I’m in love with the birds and ‘navy and white’ phrase which are embroidered throughout in white and metallic gld thread!

The perfect lightweight spring jacket. The open front is just the thing for showing off a t shirt and some long metal necklaces. I’d pair this with skinny jeans to balance out it’s slightly boxy cut.

This particular piece reminded me of Jane Aldridge, of Sea of Shoes fame. She wears a lot of boutique labels, cropped length jackets, and has a knack for pulling off exaggerated 80s silhouettes with grace.

Officially obsessed with this. 3pc 1950s silk dress set, in a midnight blue, coral red, and white atomic print! The dress has a squared neckline and slender cut w/ pencil skirting, and the jacket is has the coolest upturned cuffs on it’s 3/4 sleeves. As if that isn’t good enough, the original matching belt is intact. Most vintage dresses came with matching belts, but most of those belts have mysteriously vanished into a black hole. Score!

This dress set reminds of the Rockabilly Socialite, miss Dollie DeVille. While she’s not a self proclaimed fashion blogger per say, she always looks amazing in her photos, and has some 40s and 50s dresses to die for. Silk, rayon, cotton novelty prints? The gal has it all.

If you like a head to toe vintage look, this is thee dress set for you! I like to mix old with new though. So I’d pair the dress with some newer, trendy metal jewelry and platform heels. And the jacket I’d pair with some well worn, faded and distressed jeans and wedge heels.

Two gals with totally different yet equally fabulous styles, who love vintage and are known for wearing it. Which fashion bloggers inspire you?

ROYALTY

JUST LIKE HONEY

This dress has been in our Etsy shop for a while, but the original photos were taken on a point & shoot. I re-shot them with my dslr the other day, and am so glad I did. While the pics still don’t do the dress justice, they’re quite an improvement.

This is the part where Rachel Zoe ‘dies’ >>>

All that glitters!

From the estate of a wealthy Texas socialite, who’s family made their fortune in a rural oil town. A feast for the eyes and soul. Authentic late 1920s party dress in a floral print, completely overlaid with metallic gold threads. Possibly genuine gold bullion, which was still used in clothing back then.

There’s no label present, but it’s likely of French or Belgian origin. You’ve come a long way, baby.

V neckline, with a capelet style collar, drop waistline, and tons of shirring along the sides.
