CALLING ALL CRAFTY GIRLS

I’ve hoarded vintage patterns since high school. 20s flapper dresses, 40s playsuits, 50s ball gowns, 60s structural mini’s, 70s bell bottoms… Regardless of size, if it looked cool I had to have it.

I managed to amass an entire coat closets worth of patterns, and have made myself many wonderful items over the years. I’ve also made many one of a kind, vintage inspired outfits which I sold through Etsy and EBay, which have gone to happy homes worldwide. I won’t give up this hobby any time soon. But…. I’ve decided to part with the excess. Rather than horde things I don’t use, I’m hoping the patterns will find new owners who will appreciate (and hopefully use) them.

I decided now is the time because traditional domestic skills are making a comeback. The art of making things by hand (and with love) is slowly but surely resurfacing. These patterns are valued today as they weren’t 13 years ago, and I couldn’t be happier about that.

Here is the first batch of patterns I’m offering for sale on EBay.  There’s hundreds more, which will be listed weekly throughout the year. I only sell patterns which have all pieces intact. I carefully inspect them to ensure this. So no gambling involved.

GMT <3'S SOTBM

Hey y’all! Remember that big announcement I said was on the way? Well… here it is: I’ve teamed up with Sisters of the Black Moon – from now on my best vintage finds will be sold through their EBay shop + I’ll be doing some ‘behind the scenes’ web related stuff for them. This opens a whole new chapter for them as well as I; one we’re all pretty psyched about : ).

Seeing my finds brought to life by them is a dream come true. I just love how the products are statement worthy, yet styled in a way that never looks ‘costume-y’ or ‘dated’. Instead, their presentation is a perfect hybrid of vintage, street, and high fashion – resulting in looks that are do-able and appropriate for every day. You can’t help but get inspired!

On top of that, these ladies are the real deal. Such genuinely cool, kind, and creative people. They’re every bit as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, so I feel very blessed to be working with them. It’s been a lot of fun so far, and I’m very excited for what the future holds.

Without further adieu, lets get to the good stuff, shall we? Here are some treasures currently up for grabs:

Dark green 70s jumpsuit with bell bottoms, cut outs, and studs, oh my! Very Foxy Brown and perfect in every way. here

CHA-CHA-CHANGES

Did you miss me? Sorry for the constant disappearing acts as of late. Things have been a bit hectic in my personal life so I’ve been coping with that the best that I can. I’ve been sick off and on + my old car pretty much died on me earlier this month. So most of May has been spent cooped up at home, resting, watching movies, and spending way too much time on Facebook.

The good news is, new stuff is finally up on Goldmine Trash!

This Bardot-esque bombshell was designed by Sydney North, and was born for breaking hearts in. It was originally a frumpy middy length, but now it’s ready to rock & roll. Dig the pleated ‘origami’ like silk ruffles w/ picot trim!

I love the flattering cut on this dress! A psychedelic stunner from the late 60s – early 70s.

Op art at it’s absolute best. Gotta love the color block contrast too.

I photographed a ton of other items yesterday, so expect ‘em to keep coming. In even better news, you may notice my stock has undergone a serious edit. As someone who’s been in the vintage clothing business in one form or another for many years, I’ve clung to the idea that vintage shops are crammed with the best of every decade. And while that’s usually true of brick and mortar shops, selling online is a whole other animal. To (ugh) brand yourself properly online, you have to streamline your product.

With that said, from here on out Goldmine Trash will primarily cater to a late 1960s – 1970s ‘romantic meets rocker chic’ aesthetic… with select earlier and later pieces which compliment this style tossed in.

Jolly Dolly Vintage

Needless to say I’ll really have my work cut out for me maintaining a web presence for all 3 shops, but I have faith I’ve made the right decision, and am excited to see where it all goes.

I’m especially excited about getting the new Goldmine Trash rolling. It represents the NOW (filtered through the lens of the 60s/70s)… and has co-conspirators this time around. You’ll hear about them soon. If you happen to be a guy, you’ll really want to stay in the loop.
