LAZY

Had to pull over and snap a few pics of this old theatre in Kansas, which was en route to my latest buying trip. I don’t document my travels as much as I should and need to work on that asap. I was gone for 4 days and returned last night, triumphant! Quality over quantity this round. I listed a few of the finds tonight:

1940s? Tropical Hawaiian print? Fishtail peplum? We’re so there. You can expect a last minute bidding war on this here.

Rose print 1950s party dress in shocking, bubblegum, and raspberry pink. Shiaparelli would have approved. here

Morton Bergman late 1950s impressionist style blue spring floral cocktail dress set. Wiggle skirting + matching bolero/cropped blouse. High quality tailored look + silk = totally luxe. here

There’s tons upon tons more which hopefully will all be up this week. Some 5 day auctions will launch on Tuesday for sure. This stunner will be for sale via Buy It Now too:

Pick of the litter. Just wait till you see the rest of it!

SWEET SHOP SUNDAYS: SHRINKLE + SUGARPILL

Amy Doan was studying journalism when she began sewing clothes for fun in 2002. Under the seller name Shrinkle she sold her designs on EBay, which were so well received that Shrinkle became a full time gig. It was then Amy realized her true calling in life was for fashion design and glamor.

To promote Shrinkle, Amy set up a blog documenting her designs, in addition to her partying antics with equally fabulous friends. Other bloggers found inspiration in her humorous writing style and colorful pics, which featured fun ways to wear vintage fashions and plenty of bright, richly pigmented makeup . A new demand was born. Ever the savvy business woman, Amy expanded her shop to stock vintage dresses and Kryolan cosmetics too. She also began selling fabric and trim by the yard, for other DIY’ers.

Though maintaining her EBay shop to sell Kryolan, Amy opted to transfer her Shinkle line, vintage wares and diy supplies to an Etsy shop in 2007. Since then over 1,000 items have been sold, ranging from handmade corset tops to 70s disco dresses to vintage slips refashioned for every day wear.

But that’s not all. This year she launched her own cosmetics line, Sugarpill! These high quality eye shadows come in loose and pressed formats alike, in the greatest packaging you’ll ever see.

Inspired by punk, rave, drag and Japanese street fashion, each of Amy’s business endeavors reflect her style; a style where neon, glitter and hot pink are staples. The authenticity of her brand has gained her many loyal customers, with many more on the way.

MID-CENTURY MADNESS IN ARIZONA

3 years ago I was living in Phoenix, AZ. It’s been on my mind a lot lately, as there’s certain things I miss about it. The beauty of the desert, the dry heat (10x better than TX humidity), 80 degree ‘winters’, the friends I made out there, and the incredible mid century architecture!  Needless to say, I’ve been reminiscing through old photos, and decided I’d share some with you.

Here’s some architectural photos I took out there; mainly of buildings from the 50s and early 60s, with a few older ones added for good measure. Do enjoy, and credit/link back if you repost.
