SWEET SHOP SUNDAYS: LACED WITH ROMANCE

Say hello to Laced With Romance, this weeks featured sweet shop. Formerly known for taking EBay by storm, these folks opted to open a brick & mortar in Austin, TX earlier this year. Their online presence was surely missed, but never fear; a freshly launched webshop is once again supplying fashionistas world wide!

Laced specializes in 60s-80s vintage for the runway and rock & roll set. And unlike most vintage webshops, they sell mens and womens wear alike.

Owner Stephanie Villalobos-Fellabaum and assistant stylist Bekah Dubose are the the dynamic duo behind Lace’s in-house label, Dust & Drag. Specializing in refashioned vintage alongside original creations, Dust & Drag is rich in tye dye, fringe, and burnout velvet.

Topping it all off, artisan wares by independent labels Texas Hatters, Bad Panda, Rima Hyena, Felicia Graham, and Via Christa Chains are also stocked. Prices range for $38-630.00, with many items competitively priced. Be sure to check ’em out, and enjoy the gorgeous editorials by Briana Purser and Daniel Perlaky.

MUSE OF THE MONTH: CATHERINE BABA

I refuse to believe she’s 74 as her Myspace states. 47 maybe, but forever young is more like it. This Parisian wardrobe stylist is the real deal; a true eccentric and non-stop glamour gal. Like all truly stylish people, her focus is on having fun and expressing herself though fashion, opposed to trying to a perfect. And I love that. I just adore her and her work.

Catherine takes many cues from the late 1910’s and 20s. Like’s like an Erte’ drawing come to life (or Ballet Russes dancer back from the beyond), she’s often clad in drapey metallic fabrics, slouchy capri length pants, and luxurious oversized coats.

But what really sets her apart is her generous use of accessories. Turbans and veiled hats, oversized sunglasses, long cigarette holders, chunky bangles stacked wrist high, large hoop earrings, and statement necklaces all paired together complete her signature look.

If that isn’t enough, she can peddle a bike in designer heels without busting an ankle (or snapping a neck ala Isadora Duncan). What a gal!
