SOTBM – NEW THIS WEEK

Hey guys,

How was your weekend? Mine was an incredible! I spent the past 3 days on a buying trip through rural Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and the people were super nice and friendly. I’m kicking myself for forgetting my camera, but oh well. I’ll go back soon : ).

Naturally, I bought tons of great vintage. Next months Sisters of the Black Moon auctions will be mindblowing! I can’t wait to drop this batch off to them in early November. Sister Sara will be in town then, so hopefully I’ll get to meet her!

Anyway, there’s no shortage of awesome till then. Here are some beauties the Sisters listed on Friday, sourced by yours truly:

All that glitters. This vintage romper came from the estate of a gal who was a circus performer in the 50s and 60s. This was one of her costumes! It’s totally smocked on the underside, so it has tons of stretch in every direction. Loaded with metallic gold sequins + has a metal zipper up the back. This is perfect for a glam rock inspired look. here

Insanely rare find! Semi sheer light cotton and metallic gold 1920s floral print party dress. 20s evening dresses made of cotton are a rarity, and usually originate from Belgium or France; this likely had a designer label at once point. From a prominent Wichita Falls, TX estate (the wealthiest American city at one point in the 20s, thanks to oil $$$). V neck w/ capelet collar, shirred sides @ drop waistline, geometric paneled skirting, and a subtle fishtail / asymmetric hem. If you’re after museum quality and wearable look no further. Great size too! here

Gypsy witch! Late 80s/90s burnout velvet jacket in a kimono inspired style. Gorgeous winter floral print, sequin accents, and beaded/tasseled fringe. Perfect for layering w/ basic black. here

Red hot. Sexy 60s/70s mod mini dress. Subtle a-line cut w/ plunging v neck. Zips down the back. Wear it as is for a rock & roll bad girl look, or wear a long sleeved knit top underneath for a sharp mod look. here

Angel of the east. 70s Indian inspired mini w/ lavish pink embroidery, dramatic sleeves, and lil’ buttons along the shoulder seams. The best! here

Ultimate find! Avant garde 80s wrap mohair sweater from iconic designer Pierre Cardin. Deep v neckline, dramatic dolman sleeves, and side tie. Super soft + perfect for the season. Gorgeous deep purple too. here

Anna Sui vintage inspired lovely. Babydoll style w/ empire waist. Lil’ ties at the sides. Sheer cream/black floral silk w/ cream lining. So precious! here

Ooooh yeah! 60s/70s cream colored canvas boots. Stacked heel + front lacing. Below the knee length. Great earthy look. A must have. here

Perfect fall floral. 80s/90s palazzo pant rayon romper. Soft fluid silhouette. Such a dream. here

With a print this bright and cheerful, you can’t help but smile. Different kind of crystal healing! Super cute 60s/70s cotton mini in a gemstone and gold print. Pristine condition. here

60s babydoll mini w/ fringe hem. Perfect shades of deep red in the rose print. Imagine this paired with some black Louboutins! Parisian style romantic elegance. here

Here are a few stunners the sisters sourced on their own too:

70s dolly bell sleeve mini in a patchwork print. V neck + empire waistline + self belting. So beautiful! here

70s southwestern/geometric print micro mini dress. Perfect color combo. Comes with it’s original matching belt even. So cute! here

Ugh! Why can’t I find a piece like this for myself?!?!? Amazing 60s/70s faux fur leopard print cape w/ toggle front closure. Channel your inner Blair Waldorf and STRUT PROUDLY. here

I love vintage fraternal order robes, and this 70s disco mini w/ attached cape reminds me of them. Therefore I love it too. It also reminds me of the Virgen de Guadalupe >

You could go as a sexy version of her for Halloween, yes? YES. Good. Go here then.

There’s lots of cute stuff ending today too. Don’t miss out!

xoxo, SJ

RECENT ENCHANTMENTS

More treasures available from Goldmine Trash <3. A gal can never have enough clothes, right?

I usually don’t stock separates, but I’m a sucker for a great novelty print. Therefore I couldn’t say no to this! Lady Veshoevius, I’m looking at you.

Spanish dancers and bullfighters. Whatever the Spanish word for ‘swoon’ is can be inserted here.

Again with the novelty print thing. This thing is bat bird shit insane! 40s inspired 70s 2pc dress set in the most amazing/eye gouging bird print known to man. Natrurally, it sold in an instant. I’m including it in this post for your gawking pleasure though.

70s chic = all over this spring/summer = I found your new favorite dress. Beautiful and goes with everything.

This Courreges inspired cutie gives off a…. medical…. vibe. Blame it on the Stendhal syndrome.

Barber pole beauty! If it’s color blocked, count me in.

For lucks sake we’ll call it a horseshoe print. 1940s, rayon, larger size, pristine condition – sounds like a winning streak to me.

Mad Men a la Mode. The perfect lil atomic age dress for everyday wear. Go shopping, cook dinner, and plunge the toilet IN STYLE. It’s all good, girl.

House of Trash strikes again! I have 60 yards of this fabric. Isn’t it fab? This is the perfect dress for Viva Las Vegas. It’s appropriate for a wearing to a car show, but would make quite a statement as you dance the night away too.

This was made from an authentic 50s sewing pattern – which I tweaked to incorporate some 50s Hollywood meets Hawaiian style flair. Strapless, balcony bustline, rouching, boned for support, and sporting a full circle skirt : D.

I love the mid century influenced wood grain print. The sort of wood grain which leaves you intoxicated on an aesthetic level.

Didn’t see this one coming, did ya? Another House of Trash masterpiece made by me!

This thing is so structural that it can stand up on it’s own. This was fashioned from the same vintage pattern as the tiki dress above, but was also tweaked to have a style all it’s own.

Once again you get a strapless bodice w/ balcony bustline, only this one is accentuated with ruffles. And the front overlay has a dramatic ‘m’ shape which resembles a (holy smokes!) Batman mask. It’s double boned at the sides, and has a full circle skirt.

Made of a jet black vinyl which is textured and crinkled. It’s lightly lined with cotton too.

Cecil Beaton said it best “Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”

My friend Allison (a real life Blair ‘evil dictator of taste’ Waldorf) pointed out that the bodice is similar to the one on the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress. Ya know, the one Carrie Bradshaw wore in the Sex and the City movie. I never made that connection until now.

Spot on. Allison is the expert!

Like it? Snag it here.

Many more beauties are on the way soon. House of Trash has some major tricks up it’s sleeve. Plus there’s piles upon piles of vintage waiting to be photographed : D.

TREND ALERT: THE BLACK LEATHER DRESS

Tomorrow is the first offical day of fall! And in celebration, this uber amazing black leather wiggle dress has founds it’s way to Goldmine Trash. And into my heart.

Sadly, my dressform was a tad too large for it, therefore it doesn’t come close to doing it justice. On a gal the right size though!!! Heads will turn and hearts will break.

(work with me here)

Strapless, boned, nipped in waist, pencil skirt, and zip down front. Va-va-voom.

I love how this style is so versatile. With Bettie Page bangs, horned rimmed glasses, and springolators, a gal could be vintage Barbie gone bad. Or a 50s fetish model.

Bizarre magazine

Or she can add bigger hair and heavier eye makeup for a punk inspired look…

OR some edgy accessories for a Gaga inspired look!

Of course, leather isn’t always tough girls, cigarettes, and rock & roll.

It can also be high fashion, sophistacted, and elegant. As Emma Stone proved at this years VMA’s.

All grown up! Miley Cyrus looks stunning in this black leather dress.

I was so thrilled when leather dresses paraded down the fall/winter 2010 runways. Everyone from Diane von Furstenburg to DSquared2 had these sexy things in their collections.

Of course, that’s the joy of wearing vintage. You get all the style and quality, at a fraction of the price. Ours is currently up for grabs for only $69.99!

How would you wear this look?

SEE THRU YOU

A few fabulous pieces have just been added to Goldmine Trash.

This incredible, iconic vintage coat is perfect for early fall! Made of lightweight cotton, and loaded with intricate cutwork detailing + tons of floral embroidery. Just imagine it paired with a floppy hat, rope necklaces, a white tank top, skinny jeans, and chunky heels. Reminds me of something Mary-Kate Olsen or Jane Aldridge would wear. Too cool!

** ALREADY SOLD ** The perfect little black dress. Illusion lace bust, light boning, and sexy wiggle skirting. Pair it with an updo, fine jewelry, and strappy heels. Very Mad Men.

Thanks for viewing! xoxo
